Starting Something New [ Kyunghun | Jay ]

kxnghun:

When one of the women standing up front suddenly glanced toward the door, Kyunghun let his gaze slide in the same direction. As his line of sight fell on a startling looking young man with wild-colored hair, he felt his interest growing more than it had been at the mere prospect of the internship. As the young man walked calmly toward them, he felt his lips curling up in amusement because of how obviously it flustered the woman in charge of them.

The human’s smile was striking, eye catching for sure. Jay couldn’t help but feel attracted to it. He smiled a bit wider at getting his name. Kyunghun. It was Korean, the closest thing to Jay’s own looks. That was what his story was. He was Korean, born and raised in America. He’d been trained in both languages with a heavy emphasis on a specific accent. He had to be believable after all. It was intensive training. In some ways, he was glad it was over, but realistically, this was like his final exam. This was the most nerve wracking part of it all.

Starting Something New [ Kyunghun | Jay ]

kxnghun:

He couldn’t say that he was exactly in a hurry to get to his new internship. Sure, he wasn’t going to be late, but even though he knew he had to do it and that it was what was expected of him, he didn’t want to do it. Well, not that he didn’t want to do it. He just wasn’t interested in it.

It was the kind of experience not just anyone got to have. Maybe that was one of the reasons he’d become part of the mission. While he certainly wasn’t the only one who got to infiltrate another world, he was one of the minority. To be able to see another world, another race so closely. Surely it would be something worth experiencing, being at the front line of exploration. Perhaps he’d even make a name for himself, in a good way he’d hope. He wasn’t so afraid of failing, as strange as that might seem. Just getting by day to day is what worried him more. How would he survive in a place he knew so little about?

kxnghun:

Pausing for a moment, he slid his tongue between his lips, giving the other man a thoughtful look. “Are you hungry? You could always come with and we can catch up on the way…and bring our food back here or get something other than take-out.” He tilted his head slightly, the same playful tilt to his lips. “I don’t really have too much of a preference, but since I wasn’t eating with anyone I figured I might as well bring my food back.” For a moment, he wondered if Jay would think he was boring — he’d always been sort of the good kid, staying in and doing what he was supposed to…except for when Jay dragged him out. And later on, he’d found a different bad influence but for the moment he supposed he’d gone back to being boring.

Well, except for the other things that nobody was supposed to know about. Pushing those thoughts away, he added on, “Or we could just stay and hang out here for a while. I’m not exactly dying of starvation. Close, but not quite.”

Jay couldn’t help the small sense of relief he felt when Kyunghun said he didn’t really have any plans. It wasn’t like they couldn’t catch up some other day, but Jay didn’t really want to wait. He could already feel a thrill at just seeing the other man again, now that he was a man anyway.

"Hmm," he hummed thoughtfully at the suggestions. There was definitely a part of him that could clearly remember how much fun they’d had together when they were young, and he couldn’t help but wonder if Kyunghun would still be into having fun with him. Licking his lips, Jay shrugged a bit before smiling. "I don’t mind staying in every now and then. Sometimes you can have more fun in than out."

His eyebrows arched slightly. There was an urge to just go ahead and invite him in and see where it led. If anything, Jay’s morals and inhibitions had only slipped over the years. But with Kyunghun it felt different than just inviting anyone in. He wasn’t some stranger, but he was familiar yet still mysterious in new ways. Jay wanted to find out how he’d changed, how the years had shaped him. “We could just order something if we get hungry. I’ve got some good drinks inside, if you .. want to come in?”

kxnghun:

When the other man turned toward him, Kyunghun knew for sure that it was him, but he wasn’t sure he recognized him as well until he saw the way his eyes lit in recognition. The corners of his own mouth turned up a little at the smile that curled the other’s mouth. “Yeah, me.” He felt his smile turning into a bit of a grin, and he shook his head. “Definitely not leaving my apartment,” he responded with a playful sort of sarcasm, his lips still curled into an amused smile. “I know what you mean, though. It’s really surprising to see you here, especially after…how long it’s been.”

His gaze flashed over the other man’s features, his bright hair, the familiar slanted eyes now lined with a thin layer of black, his cheekbones and sharp jawline, all things Kyunghun could remember maybe too well. He’d grown up a lot since they had last seen each other, but he could still feel a familiar shiver at the top of his back — maybe it was the memories. For a second, he almost felt like he was that kid again, back when things had been simpler in a world that had already been complicated enough. If there was anything he’d learned about life, it was that there was no limit to how much harder it could get, or how much worse. Pushing the thoughts away, he summoned a smile to flash at the other man.

"How’ve you been?" he asked, a genuine curiosity shining through his features. Staring at the other man, he wondered what had happened to him since they’d last seen each other, if things had been good or bad or some in-between mixture of the two.

Jay couldn’t help but laugh a little at the response, lips tilting slightly and eyebrows arching at the sarcasm. He didn’t feel any sort of offense because he could tell the other male was just being playful. And the added words made him smile a little more. “It is..” he trailed off, the moment of silence between them pulling out as Jay’s eyes moved over Kyunghun’s face. He was so familiar, yet different at the same time. He supposed it was the same as someone looking back at another person’s childhood photos. Similar, but evolved.

Kyunghun looked good, but Jay remembered him always being attractive. He’d definitely matured well, something impressive for someone already good looking at a young age. Smirking a little, Jay leaned against his doorframe.

"Many things. It’s really been so long. Right now I’m good, though. In school, living here as you can probably tell," he added with a playful smile, glancing at his door for a moment before suddenly adding, "Do you, ah, want to come in? Or maybe go somewhere? We could catch up? Or maybe later if you already had plans," he added, remembering Kyunghun had been heading out when he stopped to say hello.

Jay shows Kyunghun his place;

kxnghun:

*hearing the other’s response to alcohol made him grin, and he laughed a bit* You could probably make it with what you have and I wouldn’t know the difference. *he smiled playfully before biting his lip* So, what  kind of alcohol do you have and what are our juice options? *he tried to push down the weird feeling in his stomach, but even though it wasn’t consuming, it was difficult to ignore. Weird, though, because here he was, about to drink alcohol with Jay, who he hadn’t seen since he was twelve years old*

I probably wouldn’t know either.. -He laughed and shrugged his shoulders, trying for a moment to think of what it tasted like, if he could remember trying it, but all that came to mind was that it probably tasted like tea and alcohol.- Well.. -He started to push the bottles around as he looked- Gin.. vodka, some flavored rum. For juice, I have orange, grape and some kiwi thing. Any of it sound good?
